If you follow the manga, or is currently watching the series "Shingeki no Kyojin" you'd be familiar with Mikasa. The kick ass lady who has only one goal in mind, and that is to protect 'her family'. (that being a guy who isn't even really related to her) But anyway! Even though I made the caption to make fun of her, I love her to bits. So while i was at it: I also did Lance Corporal Rivaille, though am starting to have second thoughts as I have somewhat round eyes. It was hard to even partially make myself look as manly as the Corporal. But have at it.
Just a pun, don't take it to heart. In any case, I really find it weird that some people get offended when they're told to actually 'know' the characters they're going to dress up as. Think about it, a lot of thought probably went through in the design phase of the character.
Kagamine Len, as I've introduced before, is a Vocaloid.
Follow the link to know more about Vocaloids, but simply put they are 'vocal synthesizers. Programs used to make 'songs' like a voice box. What makes them different is, they are very good examples of "virtual divas". As they have their own personalities and merchandise. (They also have a rhythm game) Not everyone has the time, money or the venue to shoot so sometimes we have to be as resourceful as we can. It's not as outstanding as most shots, but at the least we can get to a decent overall look. The Shot The setup
I'm no expert, am simply a casual photographer. While my course did teach me various techniques, framing, and the science behind a Digital SLR, I am not really that good with setups or memorizing proper aperture values and the likes. I am also not too fond of buying too many lenses much like other people I know. I just hope this helps anyone out there interested in doing the same effect.
My resourcefulness was once again, put to the test. I didn't have enough money to get the materials I wanted. So every bit of cloth counted. Even zips and buttons were repainted and re-attached from other pieces I could manage to scrap up. The dress The petticoat, ribbons, detachable collar were pretty easy to do. The issue I had was the top bodice. It was a tube like thing, that I didn't have any experience in making. But hey~ I pulled through after thinking of how to construct it. All that's missing is possibly the knee high socks, and the detachable sleeves. There's still a lot of time! So this one would definitely be really polished before I set it off for people to see. But in all, once again I learned something pretty handy. From the construction, to the semi final finishing touches - it has been nothing but interesting. I'm really not too good with these kinds of crafts as am only starting to get used to them. But I suppose these are fine. Though for the next few props of hers, I would be following the recommended items. As I would hope I would already have finances.
Progress thus far: These were pretty easy to make and fix. And as of now, I also already have the pauldron like things on her skirt. (But will not be using it for now) In any case, my issues in the crafting lie in her subtle but really round chest plate. The Backup Plan
Izayoi from the anime Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sō Desu yo? or translated in english, "Problem Children are Coming in from Another World, Aren't they?"
Overly serious characters who are awkward and quite possibly really caring for other people. It's really something so close to heart that I will always end up cosplaying them. Like almost everyone who watches, likes and cosplays certain characters -- we find these commonalities striking and we fall inlove with the characters. I didn't fall for his stupid Arcana skill though. "OTL Let the Nova trial Photo-spam begin!
Sword art Online, my current anime drug. Although the light Novel is notches better than the anime. It does not miss out on the points of conflict. Though development wise, they lack a lot with Asuna's character. My favorite shot from Sir Alain's set She is currently one of my favorite heroines. As usual, I made everything from scratch. The materials available to me were limited to very few and the time I had was a span of the week while juggling work. (And thus I ended up with acne breakouts "OTL) The wig? Yes, that was a styled wig. I cosplayed her way before anyone else had available wigs. XD Although this was in lieu of my former plan Esther Blanchett, I did not regret crafting this costume and I learned a hell lot from it!
